FooFoo skirt and cowgirl boots? YES, please. We told you a few blogs back that it went with everything! Having a 40 over 40 project has been such a blessing to us and to the ladies that have participated. These beauty portraits have done much more than just a picture. They've been life changing. Lisa, 57 year old high school teacher, joined us in the studio and kicked up her boots!
START BY TELLING ME WHO YOU ARE? WHERE ARE YOU FROM? GIVE ME A SHORT BIO OF YOU AND YOUR LIFE.
I'm Lisa Hall. I grew up in Maine with my sister, two hard-working parents, and eventually my brother. I met my husband when we were around 6-years old. We grew up together, dated on and off through high school, and then married. We moved to PA longer ago than I care to think about, and hope to end up in South Carolina in the next few years. We have two daughters and four grandchildren. I raised my family and then went back to school for my Bachelor's when I was 40. Now I'm working on my doctorate, which I hope to finish by 2024. I'm creative, ambitious, hard on myself, and a little unpredictable. I love my husband, my family, and Jesus.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING YOUR AGE?
The best thing about being 57 is being comfortable with who I am and not caring what other people think or how they may label me. I am able to give sound advice, and I have become really good at listening to what people say and what they don't say.
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT?
My greatest achievements are my marriage, my children, and my education.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING THAT YOU HAVE CHECKED OFF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
I don't really keep a bucket list, but in the past few years we have done some things we finally had the money to do.. We took a hot air balloon ride, we went parasailing, and we saw Elton John on his farewell tour.
WHAT TRAIT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
I am proud of my perseverance, determination, grit, and resilience.
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST FEAR?
My greatest fear is having my children or grandchildren die before I do. It goes against the natural order of things.
IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I would change my tendency to think poorly of myself. I am truly my own worst critic.
WHEN, IN YOUR LIFE, HAVE YOU FELT MOST CONFIDENT, AND WHY?
About 7 years ago, I lost a lot of weight, and then I had a tummy tuck. I felt like my outsides matched my insides. When Covid and menopause hit in the same year, it was the perfect storm that I have been working to get rid of their effects ever since.
HAVE YOUR PERCEPTIONS OF WHAT BEING "ATTRACTIVE" MEANS CHANGED OVER TIME? WHAT DO YOU DEFINE AS ATTRACTIVE NOW?
I think confidence is attractive. I think having a meaningful conversation with someone is attractive. I think intelligence with humility is attractive. OK, and I still think dark hair, blue eyes, dimples, and a great jawline are attractive.
