54 year old Cathy came into the studio for her FIERCE Over 40 session and she paired our tulle (foofoo skirt) with her Dr Martens. It pairs well with so many things, but it’s the woman that makes it happen. This attorney definitely has her own style!
START BY TELLING ME WHO YOU ARE? WHERE ARE YOU FROM? GIVE ME A SHORT BIO OF YOU AND YOUR LIFE.
My dad was in the Army and was stationed in Germany where I was born. We lived in Hawaii, Kentucky and Georgia before settling in North Carolina., where I spent my formative years. I graduated from the University of South Carolina and the Dickinson School of Law (before it was associated with Penn State.) I’m married to my wonderful husband Jay and we have two cats and a golden retriever that is almost a year old (although she might be broken - we went to the beach and she seems afraid of water lol) I’m a major animal lover and have pets my whole life. I also love to sew and screen print and enjoy the outdoors - easy hiking, tubing, paddle boarding etc. I pretend I’m low key but I’m really a type A personality and more of a perfectionist than I’d like to be.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING YOUR AGE?
I’d like to say being comfortable in my own skin but I’m not always. I do love connecting with my nieces and nephews on an adult level. And I’m closer to retirement! Haha
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT?
I have experienced and accomplished a lot in my life - all of which have made me who I am today. But I cannot name one thing that was a greatest achievement.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING YOU HAVE CHECKED OFF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
I never had a bucket list but I’ve traveled a lot and have had some great experiences. I’d like to go back to Croatia.
WHAT TRAIT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
My ability to be objective - even when I don’t want to be.
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST FEAR?
Clowns
IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Being more body confident.
WHEN, IN YOUR LIFE, HAVE YOU FELT MOST CONFIDENT, AND WHY?
When I have had to advocate for family members in health care situations.
HAVE YOUR PERCEPTIONS OF WHAT BEING "ATTRACTIVE" MEANS CHANGED OVER TIME? WHAT DO YOU DEFINE AS ATTRACTIVE NOW?
They have. I don’t believe “attractive” is based on how someone looks. It’s their personality. Obviously there are beautiful people who are physically attractive but that really isn’t what counts.
Another amazing lady as part of our FIERCE Over 40 project. Thanks for participating, Cathy!
